With a population of just over 35,000, the majority of the island is of a Hindu background although there is a smaller Muslim community occupying the island! We all have a thrill-seeking side of us buried somewhere, and it takes a place like Batur to bring it out of us. Take an early morning hike up Mt. Batur to catch the sunrise at one of the most breathtaking views from an active volcano. Not for the faint-hearted but an experience you will never forget.
