Hippies, Surfers and Free spirits. That’s what you will find as you walk through the laid-back streets of Byron Bay. The people are as colourful as the murals around town.
With such a relaxed lifestyle it may not seem like there is much to do on first glance, but don’t worry, we are here to guide you.
There are quite a few bars in Byron Bay considering how small it is.
We like; Woody’s Surf Shack, Byron Bay Brewery, and the Beach Hotel the most!
Byron Bay embraces sustainable living and artistic expression, there are many markets throughout the week and are a great way to shop local, find some unique items and get some great deals.
There are heaps of places to rent surfboards from in Byron, and you can take lessons if you want. Chances are good if you asked someone to help you on the beach they would happily show a barney (newbie) how to catch a wave.
Take the beautiful walk up to the lighthouse and go whale watching along the way! It’s not long, or strenuous!
It’s so lovely swimming in Byron Bay. There is even a wreck you can snorkel and explore.
Lay on the beach, people watch, eat some ice cream (or gelato) and embrace the sun. Make sure you put on factor 50, the sun burns way hotter in Byron than anywhere else I have ever been!
Other Water Activities
Kayaking with Dolphins, Snorkelling or a personal favourite, Scuba Diving!
Meet some new people and just relax. Life is too stressful, embrace the Byron way of life and take some time to step back and de-stress.
Try a BBQ on the beach at the communal barbeques!
Yoga on the Beach
Byron Bay is all about positive vibes and being at one with yourself. Relax, leave your judgements at the city limits, and enjoy your time.
